In Living Color Studio
We are living breathing art...that was the inspiration for the name. After selling my father's shop The Looking Glass Studio of tattoo and piercing, (from discrete to complete quality professional service)... was his whole name/statement for the shop. Im laughing thinking about it because it was one of a few, maybe 3-4 shops in a 20-30 minute radius.

It was a 800 sq ft, flash everywhere, old school booming tattoo shop! Even as more and more shops opened up and better artist than him came into our city, it never affected him. He knew how to treat people, thats what people remember...

HOW YOU MAKE THEM FEEL.

So theres a lesson learned, always work with integrity. Fair and honest is what we all want. Thats been our motto for some time now, and man is it working! Myself and my   husband Joe opened our shop in 2014, its really busy.

Both artists and clients seem to really like how we run the shop. Keeping everything clean as well as great communication has been everything , it's nice to want to go to work because everyone there is happy and chill.

We are currently working with an amazing group, Chance who I had the honor of mentoring and teaching the craft to, has been with us for almost 4 years now. And killing the game! Sara is a forever friend and the hardest worker I've seen...since me.. lol she is great at this career she came from dentistry. Shes been with us for about 2 years now. And we just hired Justin he is very good and killing it for sure, he seems grateful to be here and that's awesome.
All are dope tattoo artists and Sara pierces too. Im always grateful to work with other grateful people.

Not Your Daddy's Tattoo Shop
Written by Amber Petaccio 2018
This is an entertaining guide to success in the tattoo industry. Success looks different for everyone, some may need more time, some may want more clients and some may just be in need of peace.
A 20 year long successful tattoo studio ran into the ground in less than a year.
When I sold my dad's shop I got screwed.
One of them was a business savvy person, an accountant I believe. The other was a roadie for a few big bands in the 70s and 80s. I was wanting change so bad, they offered me a decent amount and a new, better, bigger location, right on the same road too. Bonita Beach rd. It's a busy rd by the beach..They saw me coming from a mile away looking back I see that now.

🤯 So long story short I sign a 3 year contract to get the other half of the money, in payments. So I think, cool all those bills! All the hire and fire drama, gone. Yeah I'll commit to 3 years to the shop I've aways been at, just a different location. Wrong! None of the bills transferred , cause they are contracts on myself and my father as well as The Looking Glass, they could of and I thought they did include the Looking Glass overhead when buying the shop...a shop that fed 3 artist constantly for a very long time.

They did not transfer any of the accounts, ie.Comcast, and a few others. Leaving me with a ton of debt, I couldn't get out of all the contracts. It was the main reason I wanted to sell. They could have cared less. Little did I know, Karmas a bitch unless you treat her right. And I make a conscious decision to treat her right, it's all in my actions and what I do when no one is around. I like to say I have good karma.

My lesson from this is, you would not buy a successful restaurant and change the menu, he wanted me to take money from clients just because I could. Fair and honest went out the window. They hired unskilled artists and caused drama between us all on a weekly basis. I was blown away by the behavior, talking about each of us to one another turning us all against each other.

I quit there after dealing with a ton of unnecessary drama, no one could get along. it got bad enough for me to walk  away from a lot of money. Then shortly after everything fell apart for them, even their health. We have since made amends in person, he stopped by the new shop and filled us in. The looking Glass Never lies.
The reason for the book, and my passion.
Written to change up the game and use all ways of the business world to fix a few things
As one of my mentors would say as long as someone is farther along than you in something, you can do what they did, learn from them. And it goes both ways. I have enjoyed the many apprentices Ive had, helping them get a little farther. So once I got into the world of suites as I call it. which I love I'm all about pencil skirts and heels. Some of the most amazing, insane things I've gotten to do have been through my connections in the business/marketing world.

I think it sucks that one of my passions has to be my job. So I never thought about the business side...but...it is a business. So learning from what I saw my dad do wrong and right as well as my self, I figured why not learn some marketing. It's actually really cool, its psychological. And boy does it bring in the money.

So I put all the knowledge into action, it works so... I wrote it all in a book.
The book is a feild guide and a how to, specific to our industry.

One of the saddest things I had to witness was my father being forced to quit his passion. Not only was he not prepared to stop tattooing emotionally but financially as well. My dad loved to tattoo, pierce and connect with people, when his hands and eyes started going he fought it, thinking he could shake it. But his hands and what they were created said otherwise.

So I want to create a safety net for you and me. Learning about business has helped make financial freedom a realty, Im still on my way as I continue to learn and grow. I believe you stop growing if you listen to ego... We must have balance, ego tells you you're the best...reality tells you, you suck keep trying, do better next time. Perfection is an illusion, really its real but its just an illusion. But we chase perfect to catch our best.
Live every day like its you're last...cause it might be.
You'll have to get my book to hear about all the near death experiences, I'm also a recovering addict, that part was really crazy.
